Rejuvenate Health through Vedic Astrology

“To keep the body in good health is a duty… otherwise we shall not be able to keep our mind strong and clear.” This statement was made by Buddha. While most people are worried about financial health or material health, those who are already sick would not hesitate to swear by the above quote.

When you ask many questions to a good Astrologer, do not forget to include at least one “health question” even if you are the lucky person who didn’t have to go to a doctor. Vedic Astrology could be of great use in assessing the health problems that may surface later on.

All great inventions were simple. Ayurveda is not only simple but also very effective because it just believes that the food you consume regularly is the medicine (or poison). What is good for you is bad for another person because we are not the same. Each one of us have a particular body type. This in Ayurveda is called Prakriti. So there are only 3 basic types. They are Kapha, Pitta and Vata. The order is very important – Kapha comes first, Pitta in the middle and Vata in the end. Kapha dominates during childhood, Pitta during youth and Vata during the last phase of our lives. By knowing about the 3 stages of human development, from child to the old person, you can also know about what Kapha or Pitta mean.

For example during youth all of us are full of energy, quick to anger (young blood), always want to win, like challenges, have a lot of self confidence (to the point of being arrogant) etc. So a Pitta personality would be just that all the time. Since youth is in the middle part of our lives, Pitta would rise in the body during the mid part of the day or the night. So during noon you need to drink a lot of drinks that cool your body, if you are Pitta person. For example blood pressure may rise during noon. So take the blood pressure pill before noon i.e. with breakfast. A Pitta person should totally avoid alcohol – the ‘2 pegs a day’ formula is a disaster for a Pitta person.

If you have Mars or the Sun in your Ascendant (Lagna) then you are sure to be a Pitta person. Pitta means anger. If you are angry the eyes reveal it all. They become blood red. So Pitta is harmful to the eyes. So the ancient astrology text books say that if you have Sun or Mars on the Ascendant then you are prone to serious eye problems. Control Pitta and you could save your eyes. In my personal experience I have seen that 90% of my clients who had Sun in Lagna have serious eye problems especially retina problems like Choroiditis, CSR condition, Macular degeneration etc.

A good Astrologer by just noting this can say a lot of things about the health problems of the person by merely knowing what are the diseases associated with each body type.

If Jupiter influences the Ascendant then the person would be Kapha dehi (meaning the body of Kapha). So the person may put on weight and look bulky. Prone to sinusitis, frequent colds, throat infections, ENT problems all those that are associated with ice creams for example. So avoid ice creams and chilled water if you have Jupiter in the 1st house. The 2 pegs a day formula is good for a Kapha dehi – but avoid spurious liquor (also consult your doctor about this).

Saturn, the Vata planet, indicates a Vata dehi if the graha influences the Ascendant. What is expected in old age is Vata. So if a person suffers from joint pains early in life then such a person is suffering from Vata. If the 7th house lord occupies the 1st house even then the person is prone to Vata problems according to Maharishi Parasara. If you need to balance Vata, a fat-free diet is not for you. Cook foods with a little ghee (clarified butter) or include some olive oil in your diet everyday. So while allopathic doctors will not recommend ghee, yet it is considered good as per Ayurveda. The three ayurvedic tastes that help balance Vata are sweet, sour and salty, so include more of these tastes in your daily diet. Milk, citrus fruits, dried fruit or salted toasted sunflower or pumpkin seeds make good snack choices. Eat less of the bitter, pungent and astringent tastes.

The message is that a general health tip may be good for some and bad for others. You should be lucky if you listen to general health tips and still are healthy.

Without knowing this if the doctor treats just the symptoms without knowledge of the root cause there is no end to suffering. This is because we eat for years but take tablets only for 3 to 7 days and expect it to solve the health problems. Even though western doctors (allopathic) have done miracles in the field of medicine, it is better to know more about your health from the angle of Ayurveda and Astrology to find out the root cause.

So a good Astrologer can help find the root cause of the disease and suggest very good and effective remedies to solve the problems from the angle of grahadosha (blemish caused by grahas). The person having known that should now proceed to a good Ayurvedic doctor. If there is no cure from Ayurveda only then should he resort to other systems of healing.
