Dear learned members i need a clarification.Would Shadbala & Ashtakavarga hold any significance in KP? Should we check the native\'s horoscope to ascertain the strength for Shadbala? Is Ashtakavarga useful only for planets transits?

To know whether Shadbala strength of a planet would hold any significance or not, try making a study of 20-30 Charts and see if a particular planet with high shadbala strength will truly be benefic to the matters connected to it or not.
KP says a planet, no matter, maybe placed in dusthana houses yet maybe benefic to the matters concerned with it, but Shadbala strength is a composite measure in which different criterias are used including positional strength. Now say a planets\' positional strength may become less if it is placed in an evil house but if we consider KP it maybe a significator to improving houses, so we will observe contrary results.
Now whatever out of the two is practically true, is acceptable; other is not.
i would suggest that you finish reading k.p readers(I to VII) and never try to search for old/traditional astrology stuff online and try to mix both methods.
If you want to follow old fashioned method, then dont attempt k.p
choose one and follow on its path.
knowing shadbalas is time waste and ashtakavarga is useful for transits(0,1,2,3 points show bad transit results, 4 is average, 5 or above is good results in transit)
