AYURVEDA / Solutions for Blood purification?
« on: September 29, 2009, 11:04:16 PM »
Ms Sharmila -

Yeah i tried drinking lots of water sometime back for few weeks (but definitely not 7-8 ltrs!). Though it worked to some extent I was visiting the loo more than what I liked (in addition to the diarrhea that I already had due to UC.. hehe  ).  Got irritated with the frequent visits, so stopped (however by default i take decent amount of water daily).

Anyway I think there is fundamentally some problem with my body becos it is producing more uric acid than it should be doing. Trying to find out the reason. Meanwhile I will try manjishta thats been recommended.

Thanks Virinchi and the rest, for all your answers. However a small problem. I am allergic to milk (developed it after getting UC). So is there any other way to take manjista? Can it be taken with warm water or something else like that?

AYURVEDA / Solutions for Blood purification?

Hello all,

I have been having high uric acid in my blood for many months. Becos of this I had gout attack two times before. Also my haemoglobin is less than minimum (its around 10) since many months. Part of the reason why I have low Haemoglobin is I have ulcerative colitis. But the thing that bothers me more than that is I have severe body pains in legs, pelvic region, lower back, shoulders and neck. I am really not understanding why I am getting such severe pains. And the doctors don\'t have an answer. These are not joint pains for sure, they seem to be more like muscle pains. If I dont take pain killers I am almost immobile.
Though no doctor told me, I am guessing I am getting these pains becos of my low Haemoglobin and high uric acid levels.

So I would like to know about any good blood purifiers in ayurveda to flush out my uric acid and increase haemoglobin (basically increase my blood picture). Also any theories about the reason for my pain will be appreciated.

AYURVEDA / General question on Ayurveda 'mediums'

Well that gives me some idea about mediums. Thanks for explaining.

AYURVEDA / General question on Ayurveda 'mediums'

Does it depend on the root medicine also? For example Tulasi when mixed with honey will melt kidney stones as u said. Does it happen with say aswagandha mixed with honey also (ofcourse since the root medicine is not the same the effect will not be same, but what i would like to know is does honey take the aswgandha medicine to the kidneys and then aswagandha will have its effect?). I am trying to understand if these mediums are universal and will target a specific part of the body? I have been trying to understand the concept of ayurveda for a longtime. Are all these innumerable combinations in ayurveda just empirical and tested over time or is there a way to \'deduce logically\' a medicine for a specific problem by combining different root medicines and mediums.

I know I am asking too much in too little space, but cant help my curiosity. Thanks.

I have a general question on ayurveda. Looking forward for some experts to answer them.

I have read in many books, forums or heard on tv that mix so and so ayurvedic powder in warm water, honey, cow milk, kothimeer juice, make decoction etc etc. I would like to know why so many \'mediums\' exist to deliver the medicine. Is each medium for a specific use and purpose? Most of the times I forget which medium I have to use and get confused. If someone give a list of why each medium is used taht will be helpful.

Also is mixing with warm water and making decoction same?

Also two more things,
1. The abdominal pain I have is not burning type. It is like cramping and \'knotting\' type.
2. Ever since i have been diagnosed with this, I developed milk intolerance. I cant take milk it makes the diarhea worse and indigestion. Buttermilk and Curd are fine, I can take them.

Thanks for the reply. But I have a question. I donot have all the symptoms you wrote. For example I donot have headaches, ulcers in mouth etc (blood pumping up symptoms). The symptoms I have are Abdominal pain (just before i go for bowel movement, rarely during the BM), mucous, blood and diarrhea( about 5-10 times daily). I had been on anti tuberculosis treatment and that made things worse. During the treatment I also got body pains and they are continuing now also after I stopped the ATT.

This is not piles and I do not have any problem in genitals.

Do you still suggest the  remedy you mentioned above?
