i dont know the rite words but...

\"narudi drustiki nalla raye baddalavu tundi\" = an evil eye can also break a big rock..

jaggia

i can not forget taht experience as it happened in front of my own eyes and u don\'t know how much pain that camel went through. It was unbearable also for the onlookers and i dont think any one can forget. so helpless this camel and one would feel soul-moved at his plight.
Lol, we forgot to thank DCP for initiating this good educative discussion.
I think there is lot of vast reserve of native, tribal and village wisdom in india that one need to take it out to the open and discuss freely.
Okay just to share wiht you waht i once saw in Shillong.....
These are Khasi tribals, mostly christians. in case of less rains, they catch earth-worm, tie its tail with a small thread to a thistle or wood straw pegged into the ground. they require 21 nos. to do so. they do so in a festival like mood and amid singing, dancing etc. such practive is prevalent in Jaintia hills, and even in Mizoram, i am told. they believe doing so, leads to torrential rains that is welcome to the hilly regions as it flows down into brahmputra etc. but the tribals benefit immensely as they have no means of controlled irrigation.

how is salt and lemon associated with removing effects of evil eye
In a day..when u dont come across any problems... you can be sure that you are traveling in wrong path - SWAMI VIVEKANANDA

Sharmila

it helps...

jus on revolving around the evil-i effected person\'s head by a fist full of rock-salt(can also use a combination of red dried chillies n rock-salt) or a single lemon/egg/pumpkin/coconut or a over used chappal/broomstick, gives him relief..

its a common procedure followed by many ppl even these days too..

jaggia

Swami ji was a perfect yogi. to him pain or pleasure won\'t matter much or not at all. we ordinary mortals are not that fortunate. we are all not equally blessed. when there are problems in your family, how can u relax or find peace.
incidentally, the chilly powder seems to be a universal antidote being used all over the indian subcontinent from ancient times to deal with \'chhaya\' or evil spirits.

pallavi

mexicans claim that once (may be 1000s of years back) south america was close to india, so this chillie tradition continued over there too

And lemon too is universally used in such things, broomsstick, mor pankh, agarbatti particularly made of Guggal or sambarani etc. I have seen people being beaten wiht iron rods to drive very bad or dangerous spirits out of their body. But I don\'t know what makes these things so potent to do such tasks.

Sharmila

actually... acts like beating up the effected person with rods or in more worse way works but that should be done by very perfectionist.

these days ppl doing such acts are fake.. they are simply harrassing ppl in crowd but not treating the effected... this kinda treatment was left many years back itself.

ppl pls dont believe in such fake ppl..

jaggia

Sharmila, sometimes one is really awestruck. in my adolescent days i saw once one middle-aged lady prostrating before a baba who had a dhooni by his side, burning incense and some photos of Goddess Kali, Hanuman and some unknown deities to me in front of a crowd of ppl sitting all around and watching in excitement. lo and behold, this lady was talking some abracadabra, then suddenly picked up an iron pipe lying nearby, and slowly rotated it over the head and gave a gentle hit her on her back, by herself. then the baba commanded her to do more in penitence of her bad deeds. she did it 5 or 6 times, yet carefully avoiding to touch her head or any other part of body. no injury was caused as she hit her back fairly in slow motion i.e. gently. but the baba clarified that this was good enough to complete her punishment. then he asked her to once again prostrate before the dhooni, and pray. I mean, i hadn\'t seen such things before, and could not believe it or potency to cure evils, or drive away bad spirits from humans like that. did u see any such thing anywhere?
