Rudrabhishekam or Siva Archana - Secrets, Benefits and Results

Archana or Pooja can be done for Siva any day but Abhishekam needs specific timings for yielding required results. There are few tithi which needs to be avoided.

The secret behind Siva is the lunar day (tithi) you visit his temple for Abhishekam.

Multiply the tithi by 10 and divide by 7
take only the reminder.

if reminder (SEsham) is :

Which means Rudrabhishekam should be avoided on tithi of 2,7,9,14 on both waning and waxing moon halves in a month.

Virinchi

If you cannot perform Rudrabhishekam for any reason, or not even Archana / Pooja, then atleast visit Siva mandir during pradosham time (48 minutes +/- local sunset time).

Pradosham literally means the removal of sins ( Pra : Removal + Dosham : Sin). It is this auspicious 96 minute period (48 minutes or 2 ghatis (2×24=48) each, before and after the sunset), which is the optimum time for worship of Lord Siva.

If possible, visit at sunrise and sunset time every day and meditate/chant 'Om namaSSivAya' mantra for 5 minutes. Do this for atleast 6 weeks without break and see the change in your life.

Karma accumulated during night time will be dissolved with sunrise darshan and that accumulated during day time will be dissolved with sunset/pradosha kalam darshan.

The idea of not performing rudrabishekam on 2,7,9,14 tithi does not apply to priests who work in siva mandirs. This is for general people who perform occassionally or with specific sankalp.

You need not get panchamurt. Even water is enough for abhishekam, though there are specific materials used for certain purposes

1. Using water poured in Sankh(conch shell) for abhishek will reduce quarrels between family members and will bring down hysteria

2. Mustard oil for abhishek will keep enemies at bay

3. using honey will clear throat related problems

4. using buttermilk made from cow milk will reduce all health problems and excess heat in body

5. using milk + gingelly seeds will clear obstacles and is usuallu used as a remedy for ill effects of saturn

6. using sugarcane juice will give more wealth

7. using 1 lakh wheat grains for abhishek will give children

8. mix honey and cow milk to solve mind and love related issues.

Use them at your home. Not every temple allows these materials for Abhishekam

When to do :

Do it on a day (tithi) which matches with above, according to your requirement/issue (except 2,7,9,14 tithi) and on a weekday of a planet, which has a malefic planet in its house.

For example : If Mars is malefic in your horoscope and its Mahadasa of 7 years is currently running, then check which house Mars is placed it. If it is placed in Virgo, then owner of Virgo (Mercury/Budha) needs to be picked for weekday and its Wednesday. Then look for suitable tithi on upcoming wednesdays

Virinchi

If you are struggling to make ₹ and in debts, then perform archana (no restriction on tithi but weekdays corresponding to malefic planet and dasa as given in above post gives better results).

If ₹ is not your issue, but need good health (physical and mental) then pick right tithi for Abhishekam.

If you have both issues and many more, then perform abhishekam in morning (follow proper tithi) and archana in evening on daily basis.

On 22nd June at 15:15 IST, Sun enters Arudra nakshatra and stays in 1st quarter till midnight of 25 June (early hours of 26 june).
This is when earth has its periods, which means it's land is fertile (in Bharat) after early rains.
During 22-25 june, chanting Siva Panchakshari daily and having a darsan if siva linga during pradosha time (sunset) eliminates karma.
This can be done as long as sun stays in arudra (5 July morning)

Gayatri

Amavasya falling on weekday Monday is known as Somavati Amavasya and today is that day !
If you are in Asian timezones, visit a Siva Mandir during evening (around sunset / pradosh kaal) and perform archana.
If you are in American timezones, visit a Siva Mandir on your monday morning after sunrise and perform Rudrabhishek. This is more important as Solar Eclipse occurs today and visible in USA.

Gayatri

Sun entered Arudra on friday night IST.
Visit Siva Linga any evening or morning before tuesday morning IST when SUN in Arudra-1.
Later in Arudra-2,3,4 also good but Arudra-1 to get solution to existing obstacles and problems.

It ends tomorrow (july 5th evening). So tomorrow around sunset (pradosha) is last chance for this year.

Deepa

when chaturdasi has to be avoided for abhishekam, then how maasik sivaratri and maha sivaratri is performed on same tithi ?

Deepa pujaris in mandir and those who have siva linga / salagrama at home are supposed to to it daily.
If you have a special wish and want to do it in a mandir, then avoid chaturdasi.
Masik or Maha Sivaratri is that which is spread between trayodasi and chaturdasi (trayodasi at sunrise and later chaturdasi beyond midnight).
In such a case, you can do abhishekam at sunrise by telling sankalp for yourself but have a darsan only when it is chaturdasi later.
If entire day is chaturdasi, then skip your sankalp, but not abhishekam.
