I dont see what have all these so-called gurus, sadgurus and \'bad\'gurus  have done to india or any other country over all those centuries

India, with a population of almost 1.2 billion has 2500000 temples+masjids+churches+gurudwaras etc religious places but only 1500000 schools across the country.

We boast about ancient history, tradition, vedas etc but in education, literacy and standard of living we\'re in 139th position in this world with less than 200 countries.

Before talking about spirit and god, lets think of food, education and better standard of living for all

we had enough of gurus and babas who proved to be useless for mankind
infact the word \'baba\' or \'guru\' has become abused so much now that people have lost interest in them
few idiots still fall prey to them anyways

To say that all Babas are corrupt is to say that there is no good and purity left in this world anywhere. Because of 5% good people living everything is going on as smooth as possible. Imagine if all the people were evil/corrupt how would one be able to live at all. There would be anarchy. Even now we find such nice people.

The reason there are many fake babas are because there are many persons who are also fake and get trapped by these fake babas when they are in trouble. Like attracts Like. If evil meets pure then there would be repulsion. Evil attracts evil and pure attracts pure. Again when these babas have learned that with little knowledge they can easily dupe people temples  have multiplied and evil is speading around but amongst all those temples one will also find genuine ones. How you reach that place and the right person will depend on you. Always test a Baba by your questions and if you are satisfied with the answers and if the Baba does not ask anything in return then be satisfied that he is genuine.

Probably we are frstrated with people who acted as gurus and babas. This indicates the need of one guru to prove what exactly a guru is.

I feel gurus or babas are not only to teach religious practices and talk about god. Infact they guides us to lead a happy materialistic life and spiritual progress (Iham and param both)

Virinchi

my question is not whether those babas are good or bad.
my question is do we need so many religious places and preachers which have outnumbered the schools in india
in a country where people lack education and proper standard of living, whats the point in pouring more and more money into building temples, promoting gods and religions by spending millions on festivals and especially all those celebrations in places like tirupati etc?

which guru of recent times have done anything good for betterment of this country?
including vivekananda, every guru preached and died.
none set an example by following and showing practical results

Virinchi,

When you come to Bombay and meet me I shall take you to my Guru and then you decide for  yourself.  All Saints and Good persons look simple, dress simple are humble so much so that one cannot believe such a person can be so great a human being but truth is in simplicity you find God. Take example of any Saints.

Nityanand Baba, Pilot Baba, Baba Kashivishwanth, Sai Baba and so on and so forth. Pilot Baba is still in body in Delhi.  Then there is Junglee Maharaj in his 2nd or 3rd Birth in Shirdi and he is very much there in body. You can meet him personally and decide for yourself. When you meet a true Sadguru you will be moved beyond words but you must be a true and sincere person and following the right path otherwise it would not be possible to meet such Saints. Only the chosen few can meet them. I tried to take many persons to my Sadguru but for some reason or the other the trip got cancelled but those my Sadguru wanted to meet, they were blessed by meeting HIM.

As for so many temples and festivals etc. etc. you should know many politicians are behind these festivals and also building of temples is done more with ulterior motives most of the time. A real temple is within.

Pravin Kumar

P.S. I had met one more Baba (cannot remember his name) after my marriage and nobody would believe HE had such supernatural powers as he looked so simple living in a very small cave which can accomodate only 2 persons. His clothes were bare minimum and words spoken had that power of speech.

Virinchi

i did not question are babas good or bad.
my question was whats the need of god or religion itself when our basic needs are not yet satisfied

man needs food, clothing, shelter and then education.
After those basics are fulfilled, they will think of religion , god or spirituality and then to guide them, they need guru

All existing gurus will be useless to this country till we all (120 crores of people) each that stage.

Infact god himself is useless at this stage where many in this country need education and discipline. Not salvation.

If 40% are uneducated and 60% live below poverty line, whats the use of spending time and money on religion which didnt do anything to uplift this society
who cares if some baba has some supernatural powers?
We need someone who can inspire the nation and lead them by setting examples
mere preaching is timewaste

Virinchi,

What I am trying to explain is something different. Nobody will follow religion first. We all require food, money, clothes, shelter etc. etc. God has these Saints who do their work for God in all parts of the world. What they do is to teach you how to get happiness, peace of mind etc. etc. When you learn that you get food money everything easily. This teaching is for those who do not know the right direction. We gain knowledge from our elders who play the role of Baba in our life. We get education from our Teachers in School and Colleges. We learn a lot from a chance meeting with an intelligent and matured gentleman or woman. I have travelled for 38 years all my life throughout the country on work and I have met many great human being who have influenced me greatly.

I have written this in My Experiences of Life and I give it again. When I was 14 I was standing on a railway station awaiting the train. The train was approaching and a poor lady was crossing the platform towards the edge of the platform. Suddenly I got some push within and I ran towards her, pulled her back just in the last second and the train passed by coming to a halt. What I did for her is what prompted me from inside. I never contemplated helping her but it was HIS prompting. This is what Babas, the true ones do. Do you call this supernatural powers. If you are honest and truthful in your work you will gradually get this powers too. It is so simple and yet very difficult.

I was travelling in a bus reciting my Gayatri Mantra when I saw 2 hefty boys coming in the bus and one picked up a quarrel with a poor labour man who seemed to have brushed this boy while trying to get down. This hefty boy was so angry that he almost brought his wrist to box the teeth out of that man when I just realised what was going to happen. I prayed to my Baba to save that man. The very next moment the boy seemed to confused, brought down his wrist and calmly sat down in a nearby seat. The man was saved. There are hundreds of such instances in my life. I do not claim any magical powers but they happen to me so many times.

There was a time when I boarded a train in Kanpur in the night searching for my berth when a boy from the top berth fell down and broke his head with blood gushing out from his head. I prayed to my Baba and the very next moment a man who was fully equipped with bandaid and patti, immediately attended to this boy and applied Tincture, Dettol or whatever it was and tied a cloth on his head so that there is no infection. I asked the same person next morning when he was getting down from the train: From where did you get all that medicine etc. The man calmly replied he always carried it with him. Isn\'t it a huge coincidence. This has been happening to me so many times and hence my belief in Good.

When you are doing good you develop energy inside you which helps you in attracting goodness towards you and also those who may require your help. In that case are you to blame if people start calling you Baba. Incidentally those who donate their life for the welfare of humanity are true Babas and they are always there for you in need provided you follow the path of spirituality. They cannot bear any ill will or hatred towards anyone otherwise they lose their powers. They cannot ask you for money or any favors or again they lose their powers. You may give them whatever you like out of your own free will or happiness which is accepted and distributed to others as Prasad like Sweets etc.

SaSirEkha

i think sonipravin is trying to defend his guru but now understanding the question of virinchi properly

the question was : do we need MORE gurus now?

that means we already have more than enough and lets spend some time and money on basic needs of people but not spirituality.
just look at the statistics
2.5 millions religious places compared to 1.5 million schools/colleges

Seetaram

i agree with virinchi here
attainning knowledge and moksha/salvation for yourself when millions of your fellow humans are dying of hunger around you is selfishness
and such people and their gurus will never attain any stage (they just live in illusions that they\'ve achieved soemthing)
All human actions have one or more of these seven causes: chance, nature, compulsion, habit, reason, passion, and desire
