Lord Siva Abhisheka / Archana - secrets and results
Many hindus perform rudrabhisheka or archan to lord shiva, especially on mondays to please him but only few get desired results.
The secret behind lord siva is the lunar day(tithi) you visit his temple
As we all know monday is his most desired day and based on tithi at the time of abhisheka done results vary.

For lord siva, abhisheka is more result yielding than archana.
But if an astrologer suggests only archana, you better do that .
Though there\'s no harm in doing abhisheka also

Usually abhisheks are done early in the morning around 1 hour after sunrise.

Using Panchaamrut  : 1. cow milk 2. cow ghee 3. cow curd 4. honey 5. sugar/jaggery

is using tradition

1. Using water poured in Sankh(conch shell) for abhishek  will reduce quarrels between family members and will bring down hysteria

2. Mustard oil for abhishek will keep enemies at bay

3. using honey will clear throat related problems

4. using buttermilk made from cow milk will reduce all health problems and excess heat in body

5. using milk + gingelly seeds will clear obstacles and is usuallu used as a remedy for ill effects of saturn

6. using sugarcane juice will give more wealth

7. using 1 lakh wheat grains for abhishek will give children

i have a doubt !

masa shivaratri or maha shivaratri usually comes on chaturdhashi thithi , a day before amavashya of every month

many hindus do shivabhishek on this day

then according to you, result should be ill-health !!!!!

can you clarify?

also when was Shivaling born? Shivaratri or as people say when sun enters Aridra star in june?

I am following the remedy(pouring the Milk with Honey on Shiva Lingam on every Monday) suggested by Virinchi, Its working.

i think mixing milk+honey is remedy for mental disturbance and love related problems

i tried using sugarcane juice and it worked great for my profession

i tried this on maasivaratri this year which fell on chaturdasi and had some hurdles and health problems for a week.

my experience suggests that avoid 2,7,9,14 thithis even if they are festivals

the exact time at which you do abhishek/archana are important.

most imp  days : when SUN transits through ARUDRA star\'s 1st quarter(paada) , its called earth\'s mensus period.

its imp. to worship lord siva and chant his panchakshari mantra om namassivaaya during those 3-4 days, which usually come in 2nd half of june every yr.

when SUN enters arudra constellation in 2nd half of june, its said to be earth\'s menus time.
because this is when earth took mars from lord siva and later gave birth to mars

during this period of 9 days (most imp. is when sun is on arudra\'s 1st quarter for 2-3 days) chanting of OM NAMASSIVAYA mantra is good

abhisheka is to cool down the ill effects of a malefic planet (usually saturn)
archana is to get wealthier

so, you need to pick what you want.
if you already have a stable income but lack peace of mind and have hurdles, then chose abhisheka
if you need money and are struggling then chose archana

hey since few months, i am continuously doing archanas on every wealth giving thithis but i dint see any betterment yet.. i think it is slow in effect..

try to do abhisheka in morning and archana in evening according to thithis specified in 1st post.

 Pradhosha pooja is one of the most important among the poojas performed to the Graceful Lord Shiva. In Shukla Paksha (15 moon days from New moon to Full moon) and Krishna Paksha (15 moon days from Full moon to New moon) the evening of the trayodasi (thirteenth moon day) between 4.30 p.m. to 6.00 p.m. is called Pradhosha. It comes once in fifteen moon days. Pradhosha time is especially meant for praying Lord Shiva. Praying in that time will free us from out sins and gives moksha finally (hence the name Pradhosha). During pradoSha time a special type of circumambulating called soma sUtra pradaxiNam(1) is done.

Pradhosha Purana:

Once Dhevas and Asuras using the serpent Vasuki and the hill Mandhara were trying to get Amrutham (nector) from the Kseerabthi (milk ocean). Then the terrible poison Halahalam came up. All got frightened and pleaded to Lord Shiva for rescue. Being the peak of mercy Lord Shiva ate that poison. Then as per His order they resumed their effort to get Amrutham. They got it on Dhwadhasi (twelfth moon day). Without praying and thanking the God, by whom they got Amrutham, Devas started dancing and celebrating their victory.

On thrayodhasi (thirteenth moon day) they realised their sin of not praying the God and pleaded for forgiveness. The pleased graceful Lord Shiva forgave them and danced between the horns of the Nandhi (holy bull). That time is called Pradhosham. Whoever prays Lord Shiva in that time, Lord Shiva fulfills their wishes and give them mukthi.

During Prodhosha time anointing (Abhishekam) the Shiva deity with the following is considered fruitful.

   
Milk                 gives        long life  
Ghee                 gives        Moksha state  
Curd                 gives        good children  
Honey                gives        melodious voice  
Rice powder          frees        from debts  
Sugar cane juice     gives        good health  
Panjamrutham         gives        wealth  
Lemon                removes      fear of death  
Sugar                removes      enmity  
Tender coconut       gives        enjoyment  
Cooked Rice(Annam)   gives        mejestic life  
Sandal               gives        Lakshmi\'s grace  

Anoint the Lord Shiva with Love, He would give Himself !!

Bilvam and flowers can be given for Shiva pooja. Please go to Shiva temple for every Pradhosham and live in His grace blissfully.

between 4:30-6pm many temples remain closed
how about after 6pm when they open

you can try on october 1st evening during sunset time

so dcp sir did u get any temple which is open at tat timings?

i think only famous piligrim centers and big temples are opened at 4pm.
all local/small temples open around 5:30pm

@vhk -- you can go at sunset time. need not be specific about other timings

its okay to do archana when you dont have an option
usually abhishekam is to nullify negative effects of bad planets, archana is to activate positive effects of good planets

Material to be used to make Shiv Ling

1. shiv ling made of kasturi and sandal wood will give you moksha/salvation

2. shiv ling made of flowers will give you gains from lands and profits in real estate

3. If its made of candy sugar, it will give relief from ill health

4. if its made of sugar syrup, it will give peace of mind

5. if its made of bamboo stick roots, it will give children

6. shiv ling made of curd after extracting water from it will give wealth and comforts

Virinchi, as I have moved to Onsite for six months, I am not getting chance to follow the remedy(pouring the Milk with Honey on Shiva Lingam on every Monday) you suggested as no Hindu temples here (Saudi Arabia). can you suggest me any other way pleaseeee..

someone in your family backhome can do it on your name
this gives lesser result but thats only option left

Today (08/07/10) is Mahapradosham. I went to Siva temple and sponsored Siva Abhishekam in the name of my family members.

Also offered Milk, Honey, Bananas and Lemon rice.

Would you please let me know if this is good for me ? How will it benefit me ?

on friday, july 1st 2011, both sun and moon will be on same star(arudra) in gemini for newmoon.
This is best time for visiting shiva temple.(morning or evening)

So if one doesn\'t have children in his or her horoscope if one does 1 lakh wheat grains for abhishek would they produce children? If thats the case all the childless couple could try that.

Hi Virinchi,

You had adviced Nagesh to do abhishekam on Shiv Lingam on every monday, but on some mondays thitis are not favourable as per chart given by you at the start of this thread. e.g tomorrow 12th Dec 2011 is Monday, but its 2nd thiti, dwitiya. So as per your chart it will give sorrow. So my question is, will Nahesg too face problems if he does abhishekam tomorrow? Or as per his horoscope the remedy you have given him will still give him good results even if thiti is bad on a given Monday?

its chaturdasi till 3AM in the morning.
so its tricky to decide if one should do it or not on that day.
usually, amavasya comes around midnight and that is considered the best time.

personally, i\'m not doing it on 14th lunar day

Sun enters Arudra nakshatra's 1st quarter tomorrow and it will continue till monday.
But saturday's tithi is not good for performing abhishekam.
So, pick either sunday or monday (23 or 24 june) morning.

As per calender today is purvashada... ::)

Archana on 6th Tithi, seems to be not going well in my case. did any feel like this?

Are you sure you want results related to 6th tithi as described in 1st post of this topic ?
You should make sure you are following right panchang/calender and tithi at exact time of abhishek must be 6th lunar day.
If you have doubt on calenders you follow, then install Jagannatha Hora (in downloads section of this site, with settings prescribed) and check timings for your local city/country etc

overnight kept sugarcane juice can also be poured on shiva Lingam??
or it has to be freshly prepared?? pls guide

fresh is first preference but if you cant get it early in the morning, then store it in refrigerator overnight and use it in morning.
add half lemon's juice to it for preservation and also it enhances the effect of the juice

For today (In India) the tithi is Dwadashi (12), so 12 * 10 = 120 should be divided by 7 which gives 17.14. So in this case 17 is the remainder?

In general, male worshipping female forms of goddesses and females worshipping male forms of gods yield faster results.
But, Siva Lingam gives universal result for everyone.

For weak moon, do Abhishekam on mondays and pradakshina in evening (around sunset) time

can u pls post timings to perform abhishekam?? this 25th monday is a combination of 1-3 according to this post...so if u tel me the timings we will perform abhishekam accrdng to it thanku :)

It is 1 till 7:30 am, then 2 tithi.
You need to complete abhishekam before 7:30am to get results of 1 (wealth).
If you cannot do, then postpone to some other date

Can you please let me know can we keep Siva lingam in home and worship .Actually i have kept Mercury Siva lingam and doing abhisekam with Bilva dala(Maredu Dala),Milk,curd,viboodhi etc., .But one Siva nadi astrologer told not to keep Siva lingam in home .When i do the pooja i can observe some positive energy.But some days i will not perform pooja. Can anybody give your valuable suggestions

You can keep and do abhishekam whenever possible (not necessary to do daily)

Pradosha kala pooja is more effect. in my colony temple every month i perform this.
Ahishekam with especially with Basmam, haldi powder(yellow powder) gives v.good results. along with Bilva dala water.
for financial growth do abhisheka with crane Juice(As Virinchi advised me) i get some good results its my own experience.

Kalabhairavashtami coming up on 21st Dec' 2016.
This day is of importance to those who want to remove or reduce their pending karmic effects (bad).
On that day, at sun rise, take shower and do not eat any cooked food for 24 hours.
Survive only on water, seedless fruits (small quantity), milk (no coffee, tea).
After shower, read Kalabhairavashtakam (https://shloka.chakradeo.net/kalabhairavashtakam) once or Listen (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uM_KpIu0UAk).
On 21st, you can even read it in a Siva temple and even perform a rudrabhishek (optional).
Repeat after sunset and do not sleep throughout night.
Next morning at sunrise, repeat what you did on 1st day (except rudrabhishek) at sunrise and then breakfast.

Don't ask silly questions like, where do i find Kalabhairavashtakam in my language, how many times should i read, can i eat dry fruits, can i take a nap, can i watch movies all night, personal horoscope related stuff etc.
If you are honest, do it like Roza observed during Ramzan days.
If not, do not even attempt.
This method is particularly useful for those suffering from saturn, rahu, ketu transits..

21st Morning I can do whatever you said including fasting,visit the temple, Abhishekam,   
but 21st  that day evening I will be in Traveling. can read kalabharavastakam in train only. can't visit Temple.
and 22nd morning hours also I will be traveling, i can get Head Bath and can read astakam in Train or Room. (may be difficult to read or visit in Temple on 22nd).
So, on 22nd Morning after reading Astakam can take Break Fast. am i right? pls. clear me.

I would like to share my experience,

recently i visited Rajamundry, at there one old age priest in temple (he is app.85 and above) advised me, its will be useful to all,

Abhishekam to Lord Siva with "Rudraksha" water by chanting SRI SUKTAM  give Sri.Mahalakshmi Blessings...
Rduraksha water means soak 3-4 rudrakshas in copper vessel in fresh water use it for abhishekam.
and
Abhisheka with BilwaDala water also gives same kind of results...

By two methods - are more pleasing to Lord Siva.

Dear Viranchi Sir,  Should fasting be kept on the Ashtami or Saptami ? I read on Drik Panchang that the Kalashtami fasting should be done on the day when the Astami tithi is prevailing at night and at morning.
Also Kalashtami falls once every month. Would doing the fasting and puja on any of the Kalashtami tithi has equal benefits or is there any special significance of the Kalashatami in this month.

Masik (monthly) Kalashtami and Kalabhairava Jayanthi are differently observed.
In this case, the vrat (fasting) should start on a morning where ashtami prevails throughout the day.

There're Maasa Sivaratri (monthly trayodasi+chaturdasi combined day), where rudrabhishek is done only in morning.
But on same day which occurs in Feb/March (Mahasivaratri), rudrabhishek is done throughout the day, until midnight.

Thanks Viranchi Sir, got confused with referring to online Panchangs. I am planning to do the fasting tomorrow.
There is another confusion with respective Kala Vairabh Jayanti : are there 2 Jayanthi's. Most online sites are giving  Nov 21st as Jayanthi date and Dec 21st as maasik Ashtami date. I had not read much about this Puja before, hence the confusion.

For my timezone, ashtami tithi has already started and its day time.
so i started fasting for next 24 hrs.

What we find online (websites) is not complete info. Atleast in forums/social media, we can share info one-on-one and is definitely reliable, when it comes from someone like Virinchi

'Ashtami should prevail at least for one Ghati after Pradosh while selecting fasting day for Kalashtami.'
But Kalabhairava Jayanthi vrat starts with fasting from sunrise to next sunrise, with a Jagaran during night.
So, it has to be Ashtami throughout the day1 and few hours into the night

On 22 June 2021 at 3:05 AM IST, Sun enters Arudra nakshatra and continues in same constellation for another 13 days. Initial 3 days which are 22,23,24 are important when sun in Arudra 1st paada.
In ancient days, these 13 days were called mensus dates of earth (bhoo devi).  This is actually when Sun cross Mrigasira and enters Arudra (Moonsoon completely arrives in India) and summer solstice (longest day in year when Sunrays fall on earth for more time)
Out of these 3 days, 22 and 23 we can perform Rudra Abhishek )n 23rd rudrabhishek before 7am IST), on 24th (after 5AM IST), on 25th after sunrise.
