Akshaya tritiya - myths and reality

The Myth : If you buy gold on this day, it will multiply your wealth and you will prosper all through out the year.


Astrology : On this day sun and moon are usually exalted in aries and taurus.
But their 'real' strengths can be known only through Navamsa and today sun in debilitated(neech) in libra and moon occupies leo.
Also, the planet which controls gold is jupiter and its not strongly placed every year on this day.
Luckily its in own sign and powerful now but in past 2 years it was very weak.

Reality : Sun and moon have nothing to do with gold.
Also there is no evidence in any shastra that you should buy gold today.

Till now i\'ve seen many (especially women) buying lot of gold and ornaments on this day but none of them saw any prosperity just because of this.
Few of them had better days, but that was already seen in their charts.

If this day is really auspiscious, then it should help people with bad dasas too if they buy gold today.
But in reality, they lost more money, got bad health, even sold the gold they already had.

Also, the stories behind this akshya tritiya are generated and publicised by few jewellers and businessmen in tamilnadu initially.
Later this spread to south india and now to entire india.

If you still want to buy gold today itself, buy it but dont expect miracles to happen in next 365 days.

I\'m yet to see one person with bad dasa, who bought gold on akshaya tritiya and prospered against his/her karma.

Its okay to buy some gold if you have some occassion to celebrate like your wedding or something.
buying gold every year on same day just because someone told you, is just foolishness.

Gold rate doubled in past 4 years because of these cheap business tactics employed by few businessmen.

If someone can afford to buy Gold at these prices, he might be already having favorable planets.
Gold/Silver prices would go through fluctuations and one can buy when prices correct. Tightening of liquidity will decrease prices, but prices would move up due to lack of faith in currencies.

BTW in Eastern India Akshay Trithiya is celebrated as auspicious day to start various activities like ploughing land, construction etc, not as a gold buying day.

Whatever Virinchi has told is absolutely right. Nobody was celebrating this Akshaya Trithiyai before 20 years. This is just a gimmick. A marketing trend set up by the jewellers and business men in Tamil Nadu. Later it went on to reach the entire South India. Now it has become a trend of entire India.

The same thing can be said for \"Pradosham\". Nobody was even aware of this \"Pradosham\" before 20 years. But now, you can see the huge crowd in all Siva Temples on the day of \"Pradosham\". Few people are taking advantage of many people\'s innocence and ignorance. It\'s a real pity that Astrology is being used as a tool for this. Because of this only few people are loosing faith in Astrology.
